Just before the U.S. elected Donald Trump once again, I said to my wife; “this will surely trigger a potential rush by anti-Trump Americans to emigrate to Canada”. Well, apparently, the rush is on!

According to Cassandra Szklarski, in a Canadian Press article found in the Toronto Sun of 8 November, 2024:

Vancouver immigration lawyer Ryan Rosenberg says he’s been getting so many inquiries from disaffected U.S. voters that he set up a website to address their concerns”.

Had to happen, I guess. Mr. Trump seems to have promised to do something about the current state of America rather than just focus on the feel-good language of his opponent, but let us look deeper into the eyes of our current political pundits to determine if this would be a bonus or a boondoggle for Canada?

Now Mr. Trump has stated that once in office he will deport thousands of illegal immigrants. So where do we think they will go? Mexico? I doubt it. Most of those who now reside illegally in the United States came through Mexico in order to escape other less enlightened countries, where snakes, crocodiles and large bugs aren’t the only thing that will kill you.

Many, of course, will come to Canada. This will make the problems at Roxham Road look like child’s play. Is Canada ready to take on this challenge? Absolutely not. There are two distinct issues here.

First there are the immigrants that Canada wants. Many of those will be using the web-site noted in the article above. Bring us your doctors, nurses, professionals and all the other left leaning voters who don’t trust Mr. Trump. But, this goes against the current trend in western democratic nations which are showing a tendency to move more to the right of the political spectrum than the other way.

Canada has already placed severe restrictions on immigration when it comes to foreign students, claiming it strains our health systems, housing shortages and other services required by everyone. What happens when another Roxham Road opens up upon the expulsion of all those illegals living south of the forty-ninth parallel?

We are going to have to buy a lot more tents and place a lot more warming rooms along the Canada/US border out west to keep all these fleeing refugees from freezing to death. Those who do survive this ordeal will, no doubt, be asking Canadians; “who was this guy Tim Horton”?

What a mess. This doesn’t even consider the problems that lie ahead for our politicians with respect to NATO and sovereignty in the north (and remember all of those banned AR-15’s needed to protect us) or the possible re-negotiation of NAFTA which the incumbent has threatened to tear up and heaven forbid, keeping legally registered firearms out of the hands of Canadians. And, here we are, looking at the possible change in our government in just under a year after the new President sits his ass down in the Oval Office!

There is no doubt that with the election of a new, or slightly used, President of the United States, there will be many challenges ahead for our Canadian politicians. Whether or not you agree or disagree with the world view of Mr. Trump I only have one question to ask; “does he plan to invade and annex Canada by using illegals just to make America Bigger and Stronger”?

Maybe I should sign up for some Spanish lessons.
